Short Bio:
K. Marcus has always been surrounded by books. When she was little, she used to fall asleep using her book as a pillow! When she isn’t reading, writing or researching, you'll find her outside walking her dog. She has 2 children and lives in the Historic Hudson Valley with her spouse, cats, Westley & Buttercup, and new dog, Keeley Jones. Mid Bio:
K. Marcus has always been surrounded by books. When she was little, she used to fall asleep using her book as a pillow! She volunteers as the Regional Advisor for SCBWI Westchester, as an academic support for children, and is in 2 book clubs. She has been a freelance photographer, Pre-K, K, and 1st grade teacher, TEDx organizer/volunteer, community activist, and has worked at her local independent bookshop. When she isn’t reading, writing or researching, you’ll find her outside enjoying nature. She has 2 children and lives in the Historic Hudson Valley with her spouse, cats, Westley & Buttercup, and her 1 year old dog, Keeley Jones.

A little more about me: 
I've been a reader and writer for as along as I can remember. I was first published in Jughead comics when I was 12.  They spelled my name wrong and I can't believe they printed my address!  I also received a $6.00 check.  Super exciting! I wrote plays, poems, and stories when I was younger.  After I graduated from High School, I became a freelance photographer and my creativity focused on the visual world.  I transitioned away from photography as a full time job and became a K-1 teacher which brought me right back to my first love: children's books and writing.
   
I mostly write on my computer and sometimes I write on my phone but I usually begin to pre-write in a notebook because sometimes there are ideas that only become clear when I put pen to paper. I like to draw, try different ways to make art like gelli printing and stamp making, and hang out with my family, friends and my pets.
